We also stayed at a great pub, The Red Lion Inn. It was delightful. And the sausages, oh, the sausages. You never knew sausages could taste this good. Seriously blew my mind. I used to make fun of Daniel for eating "naked sausages" (without a bun). It grossed me out. But these sausages--to put them in a bun would have been a travesty, and to put ketchup on them, even worse. May it never be.

Cotswoldiness
We hit The Cotswolds last weekend. The chief virtue of the Cotswolds is apparently cuteness, and revel in the cuteness we did. A related joy is the high density of completely crazy place names including many of my favorites, the hyphenated geographic location variety. E.G: Bourton-on-the-Water (as distinguished from Bourton-on-the-Hill), Stow-on-the-Wold, and Moreton-in-Marsh. But then we also had Tiddleywink (could I even make this up?!); Lower Oddington and Upper Oddington; Upper Slaughter and Lower Slaughter; Chipping Campden, Chipping Norton (and our personal favorite, drumroll please...) Chipping Sodbury (and Little Sodbury and Old Sodbury). Fun, fun, fun, fun. So at least when you can't figure out where in the %!#$ you're going because of the crap road signs that are mostly obscured by shrubbery, yes shrubbery, one can at least laugh at the names of the towns.

Hi Talinn,
ReplyDeleteMy godmother lives in stow-on-the-wald. I was born in Bromsgrove, so not far away - just out of the cute circle. My parents lived in an old farm house called The Sillins.
They had one room. Yes, one room. Shared bathroom. The landlord tookm pity on them and put a downstiars toilet in when mum was pregnant with me! They lived in converted stables, so even stepping out of their door they went onto a cobbled walkway covered in slippery moss.
Nice!
Actually, it hadn't changed much when I visited in 90! scary....
