(first off, this is not my pic. yea google images!) So I've decided that Seattle is a city that somehow manages to look good in the rain, which is, of course, good since it rains all the time for nine months out of the year. Other towns look sad and dreary and depressed when it rains on them, but Seattle just looks cozy. I think it's something about the combination of Northwest architecture and lots of evergreens. But then when the sun comes out, it knocks your socks off.
We've enjoyed our few days in Seattle, even though it's been freakishly cold here the last two weeks. It's been great to see so many friends though and as always, the fab restaurants. We did a shortened restaurant itinerary on this trip though:) because we were so excited to have our own place again after almost two months of being on the road. We were thrilled to pay too much for groceries at QFC and then eat at "home".
But now we have packed up for the next-to-last time and are off for Germany this evening. This will be the first time we've really needed a foreign language so far since we've spent most of our time in English-speaking countries or have just been tourists. So hopefully our German will go better than our Japanese did. Who are we kidding? There's no way it could be worse.
